Dig For Victory Summer Fete - Sunday 5th August

The Merrie Harriers Bonfire Society who host this event in our Beer Garden and the fields beyond are a charity that raises funds for local charities and good causes, including Demelza, the organisation that works with children with life-threatening conditions

At the Dig for Victory Summer Fete, Cowbeech village looks back to the 1940's when everyone was encouraged to "Grow your Own". This was not a matter of being green, but a matter of being fed.

At our Summer fete, there will be competitive classes for the best fruit, vegetables, preserves, cakes, flower arrangements and more

Performing at the fete will be the Warbleton Brass Band and the William Dexter Jazz band. World War II vehicles will be on display and plenty of period dress will add to the impression that the Merrie Harriers has stepped back  over 60 years.

There will be a Dog Show with many different classes and plenty of sideshows including Tug of War competition, children's face painting, coconut shy, punch and Judy, maggot racing (yes really), the human fruit machine, to name a few.

Refreshments will be served to cater for all tastes - Tea and Cakes , Ice cream, Barbecue and of course the Beer Tent - serving Harvey's best and Jugs of Pimms

The Merrie Harriers will be open ALL Day and a special Dig For Victory Set Menu Dinner will be served from 7.30pm. this will follow a sing song of Wartime songs around the bar at 7pm.

In true keeping to the theme of the day, all of the vegetables that are served with Dinner will come straight from the Merrie Harriers Vegetable Garden
