Merrie Harriers Christmas 2012


Christmas Parties
Our Christmas Party Menu is available from 1st December to the 30th December for lunch and dinner (excluding Christmas Day and Boxing Day). It is generally available for parties of 4 or more, but please do contact us if your party is smaller and we will try to accommodate your booking.

Our Function room overlooking our beautiful beer garden is available for free for all Christmas parties and if you require a party after your meal, we will be happy to help you plan your night.

Christmas Day

Boxing Day
Join us on Boxing Day for lunch as we offer our full seasonal A La Carte Menu including our Sharings Boards of Cold Cuts of Meat with Pickles Cheese, Dips and Bubble & Squeak

New Years Eve
Our New Years Eve Dinner will be served between 6pm and 9pm. We will be offering a special A La Carte menu. Party music will commence at 10pm and will continue to the early hours as we see the New Year in....

Bonfire and Fireworks Display - Friday 26th October

 




The Merrie Harriers Bonfire Society will be holding its annual Bonfire and Fireworks display on Friday 26th October in Cowbeech village.

The gate opens at 6.30pm, the bonfire will be lit at 7.15pm and the fireworks display starts at 8pm.

A Hog Roast, Barbecue and the Beer Tent, with hot mulled wine on offer are available from 6.30pm.

Entrance is £5.00, children under 11's are free with a paying adult

Children's Fancy Dress and Pumpkin Lantern competitions will be held at 6pm, outside the Pub, with judging at 6.30pm - Free Entry

Beer and Music Festival - August Bank Holiday Weekend

We will be holding our FREE two day beer and music festival in marquees in our beautiful beer garden over Sunday 26th and Monday 27th August.

There will be an array of real ales, local ciders and wines to try from 12pm. On Sunday we will be serving a BBQ and Jumbalaya during the day and on Monday a Hog Roast and bowls of Chicken or Vegetable Thai Green Curry is on offer.

Local bands, acoustic guitarists and quartets will be showcasing their music over the two days .

Sunday 26th August  - Groove Day
Music 1pm - Evening
Local bands and acoustic artists including:
Chris Priest, The Gary Page Band, Jimmy POM, The Vindickers and The Wakin Snakes


Monday 27th August - Smooth Day
1pm - 6pm

Local clarinet quartet, acoustic artist and jazz band:
The Red Plectrums, Boozy and Squawks, The Willam Dexter Jazz & Swing Band featuring Beverley Ambridge

Dig For Victory Summer Fete - Sunday 5th August

The Merrie Harriers Bonfire Society who host this event in our Beer Garden and the fields beyond are a charity that raises funds for local charities and good causes, including Demelza, the organisation that works with children with life-threatening conditions

At the Dig for Victory Summer Fete, Cowbeech village looks back to the 1940's when everyone was encouraged to "Grow your Own". This was not a matter of being green, but a matter of being fed.

At our Summer fete, there will be competitive classes for the best fruit, vegetables, preserves, cakes, flower arrangements and more

Performing at the fete will be the Warbleton Brass Band and the William Dexter Jazz band. World War II vehicles will be on display and plenty of period dress will add to the impression that the Merrie Harriers has stepped back  over 60 years.

There will be a Dog Show with many different classes and plenty of sideshows including Tug of War competition, children's face painting, coconut shy, punch and Judy, maggot racing (yes really), the human fruit machine, to name a few.

Refreshments will be served to cater for all tastes - Tea and Cakes , Ice cream, Barbecue and of course the Beer Tent - serving Harvey's best and Jugs of Pimms

The Merrie Harriers will be open ALL Day and a special Dig For Victory Set Menu Dinner will be served from 7.30pm. this will follow a sing song of Wartime songs around the bar at 7pm.

In true keeping to the theme of the day, all of the vegetables that are served with Dinner will come straight from the Merrie Harriers Vegetable Garden

Seafood Night - Saturday 19th May

Join us for dinner on Saturday 19th May for our renowned Seafood Night.

The menu will include Platters to Share of King Prawns, Lobster, Crab Claws and Baby Squid and Merrie Harriers Seafood Paella to share.

For those of you who do not fancy Seafood, we are also serving Onglet Steak and Asparagus Risotto.

St Georges Day - Weekend Celebrations

St Georges Day is on Monday 23rd April, but we have decided that we will celebrate our patron's saint day over the weekend.


Our special St Georges Day menu is available on the evenings of Saturday 21st April and Monday 23rd April.

Paella and Tapas Night - Saturday 25th February

We will be casting aside our winter blues on Saturday 25th February. By popular demand we will be hosting our traditional Paella and Tapas Night.

Valentines Evening - Tuesday 14th February

Join us on Valentines Evening when we will be serving our special set price menu. A choice of five different Starters and Mains, along with our classic Merrie Harriers Pudding Sharing Board are on offer.

£17 per person for 2 courses and £20 per person for 3 courses.

Burns Night

Saturday 28th January

We will be celebrating Burns Night on Saturday 28th January with a traditional Scottish five course Supper. Our resident Bagpipe player will be playing outside the pub from 7.00pm to pipe in the diners for a 7.30pm start. Between courses there will be the "Address to the Haggis" , live bagpipe music and the "Address to the Lassies and the Laddies"

Winter Warmer Special Menu

January to February

We are delighted to announce the return of our Winter Warmer Special Menu which is on offer from January through to February. In the cold winter months, come and sit by our roaring fires and treat yourself to our special price menu.

£10 set price for two courses or £13.50 set price for three courses that is available Monday to Thursday for lunch and dinner and on Fridays for lunch.
